Boosting the Immune System

Want to boost your immune system? As stated in other articles in this website, one of the best ways to avoid swine flu, the H1N1 virus (and many other illnesses) is to strengthen – boost – your immune system. By doing so, you’re simply less like to get infected. A healthy immune system can ward off many potent illnesses.

In my article Avoiding Swine Flu By Boosting Our Immune System I listed several ways. Including:

  1. Eating a healthy diet
  2. Exercising
  3. Obtaining supplements.
  4. Sleeping well.
  5. Avoiding unhealthy habits (such as smoking).

Here I wish to increase the size of the list and turn it into a comprehensive guide of boosting one’s immune system. This includes the following:

  1. Do not get dehydrated: By drinking enough water, our bodies flush toxins out of our system.
  2. avoid drinks that are bad for you: coffee, for example, and other drinks which have a lot of caffeine deplete our bodies of its minerals and vitamins.
  3. Make sure you have the right alkali/acidic balance. Our bodies have acidic components and alkali levels. For example, acidic foods can restore the alkali balance (vinegar, lemon). Certain virii flourish when the body has high acidity, so reducing it will make it much harder for them to survive.
  4. Probiotic foods: If you’ve been recently ill and have taken antibiotics, make sure you eat probiotic foods such as Yogurt that helps restore your natural intestinal microbial balance. This will result in weakening virii and dangerous bacteria.
  5. Eat foods/supplements that are believe to boost the immune system: this includes Garlic, Echinacea, Licorice and Astragalus.
  6. Try to reduce stress in your life: stress is a known factor that weakens the immune system. By reducing it as much as possible (ideally, completely), you give your body a chance to get stronger.
  7. Breastfeeding: Although this is not relevant to most people, by breastfeeding a woman transfers some of her antibodies on her child, and this shields him for the short term (weeks to months) from illnesses, including the H1N1 virus.
